The bell rang and many children bustled into modular #3, shivering from the cold. Samantha and I (Sierra) handed out writer’s notebooks. First, we wrote in our writer’s notebooks, we wrote out the date and started writing about what we wanted to be when we grew up. Our answers ranged from being a vet to being a rancher. Then, Mrs. Nordby handed out Week #10’s DGP. The sentence is:
there was no other like it in any of the stores and she had turned all of them inside out
The whole class participated together to identify the parts of speech, here’s what the 3rd period class came up with:
there (adv.) was (lv/past) no (adj.) other (ind. pro.) like (prep.) it (3 obj. pro.) in (prep.) any (ind. pro.) of (prep.) the (art.) stores (noun) and (cc) she (3rd nom pronoun) had (hv) turned (av/help) all (ind. pro.) of (prep.) them (3rd obj. pro.) inside out (adv.)
Then, Mrs. Nordby explained that we would be writing a four paragraph essay on what we want to be when we grow up. Then she surprised us, she announced some of us would be entered in a Nebraska writing project contest. If you won 1st you would earn $2,000 for college.
Afterwards we brainstormed on our essay map. The main idea for our essay map is: Goals for my future. The 2nd main idea is: How education (school) will help me reach my goals. And the 3rd main idea is optional. The introduction is: What I want to do when I grow up? The sheet needs to be done by the end of class today. Mrs. Nordby then explained that tomorrow we would start writing our essay. So, tomorrow be ready to start writing!
